5th Grade Jim Dine Clay Hands

5th Grade artists were so very excited to start their clay projects. We discussed a slide show about Jim Dine and learned a little about his life and work. We talked about why he might have chosen the heart for his symbol and why he painted it over and over and over again!

We each created two sketches with some sort of heart design on it. On Day 2, we created our designs out of clay.

Learning Goals:
Students can recognize the difference between 2D shape and 3D Form
Students can recognize the art of Jim Dine
Students can use hand building techniques to create a clay hand
