Around our classroom...

Some of the topics of our art curriculum, the "building blocks" of good art: color families, the art elements

This is where each grade's learning goals are posted. This way, there is no guessing about what we are supposed to be learning about!

The "WHEEL OF ART!" A great tool to manage the volume in our classroom

Behavior Management Stoplight system if we need it

This year's cultural focus is the art of Mexico and South America!

  1. I was wondering if you made the "WHY ART" signs that hang outside your classroom door? (I assume it's outside your door that says the number 5 followed by your names) Of if the signs can be purchased somewhere?

  2. I bought them from one of the magazines that come in the mail. Maybe Crystal Productions? Not sure. But... we are loving them!

  5. You can buy them through Crystal or Basically any art supplier. I bet you could even find them on amazon. Just type in Art Element signs. Good luck!

  7. Love the table jobs. help me understand what are the Project Patrollers and Teachers Team responsibilities?

  8. Project Patrollers pass out projects and teacher's team does any job you want them to. Really... I just stretch the jobs to have them do whatever needs to be done ;) Good luck!

  9. The learning goals for each grade depend on what they are learning about. For example, if 2nd grade is learning about Pablo Picasso, the goal might be, "I can talk about cubism and create a cubist portrait using warm and cool colors."

  10. I was wondering how you use the Behavior Management Stoplight. It looks as though the bottom circle has clothespins on it. Can you explain how you use this system?
    Thanks, JABP

    1. Thank you for asking. Each student has a number from their classroom teacher. It is their number order on the class list. The kids are already familiar with it so it is no extra work for me. If they need to clip down, they just move their number.

    1. During class, they can clip their classroom number up or down depending on behavior. It gives a visual clue to help them manage themselves.
