5th Grade Self Portrait Collage

5th Grade artists are studying the genre of self-portraits. Using analogous colors, they painted their backgrounds (canvas board). Then after carefully studying their facial proportions, they drew their own self-portraits. Finally, they considered what types of things makes them unique and used a variety of materials in a collage to create their own fantastic artworks!

4th grade Self-Portraits Mary Cassatt

4th graders have been busy studying the life and art of the Impressionist artist Mary Cassatt. They noticed how she loved to paint people doing regular things. These people often included children! We worked on drawing ourselves (as children) in a self-portrait on scrap lamination film with a watercolor background.

Kindergarten King and Queen Self-Portraits

Kindergarten artists are practicing their skills at self-portraits! We read books about kings, queens and princesses and imagined ourselves as royalty. Kids who displayed very very "royal" behavior even got to be "kings/queens of the art room" for the art period with a royal crown!

Kindergarten self-portraits

Kindergarten artists have worked hard to learn about self-portraits and have drawn their own portrait after reading the book, "ABC, I like me!" They thought about all the things they like about themselves that begin with each letter of the alphabet. Then they drew each letter and decorated it like a graphic artist would for the frame of their portrait!
