Kindergarten Paul Klee cats

Kindergarten artists read the book inspired by Paul Klee called, "The Cat and the Bird."

We also looked at the images in the Paul Clay's book entitled, "Animal Tricks."

We talked about the art elements of line and shape and used to them to create our own Paul Klee inspired cats. We also reviewed the art elements of shapes, lines and colors. We used shapes to draw the cats, lines to create a line pattern, and cool colors to use in the background.

We used cool colors to create line patterns in the background.

We reviewed warm and cool colors by putting images with these colors into a Venn Diagram on the board.

We like to write our learning goal on the back of our artworks to share with our parents what we were learning about when we take our artwork home.

Learning Goals;
I can recognize some of Paul Klee's artwork.
I can use lines to create a line pattern.
I can find shapes in an artwork.
I can separate warm colored markers from cold colored markers.
I can create my own Klee inspired cat.

Kindergarten Cut and Paste Ladybugs

Kindergarten artists read "The Very Grouchy Ladybug." We looked at the many shapes of the ladybug in order to draw them for the different shapes of the body and leaves. We then patterned the bug's body like a real ladybug!

Kindergarten Warm and Neutral Turkeys!

Kindergarten students are learning about warm and neutral colors while using shapes to draw their Thanksgiving turkeys. You might even hear these kids singing "Five Fat Turkeys Are We...... Who Sat All Night in a Tree....." It's been a real hit! :)

Kindergarten Shape, Line, and Texture Trucks

Kindergarten Artists are thinking about shapes, lines, and texture! We looked for shapes in images of trucks and used rectangles, square and circles to draw their own vehicles. Next, we talked about how texture is the way that something feels. We used texture rubbing plates to put under our trucks to create color and texture on them. Finally, we looked at the many kinds of lines that artists use. We drew some of them to decorate the backs of our trucks.

Kindergarten Primary Colored Trains!

Kindergarten artists are learning about primary and secondary colors. They drew these fantastic trains using many different shapes and then colored them with primary colors. They next used secondary colors for the background to make the train stand out!
