4th Grade Fashion Design with Clay

4th grade artists studied various art professions that they could be if they decided to pursue art in a career. One of these jobs is a fashion designer.  We watched a news article about a 13 year old fashion designer named Cecelia Cassini. She is so young but making a big splash in the fashion design world even at her young age. Sometimes it pays off right away to follow your dreams and sometimes it takes time. We tried our hand at fashion design when we created our own sketches of various outfits, then chose our best own to craft out of clay. (art element = form).

The slideshow that I created to go along with fashion design is viewable on the below link:

The write up of the lesson plan is below:

3rd grade Entertainment Design Monsters

3rd graders have been studying the art career of entertainment design. We looked at many familiar creative works in popular culture. One that we had fun checking out was the movie "Monsters." We created our own monster designs on toilet papers rolls - another form of "junk art!"

1st Grade Lorax

1st graders are thinking about the types of professions that someone could be if they were to become an artist. We discussed fashion designer, fine artist, architect and an entertainment designer. We looked at the book and movie of the Lorax and thought about how the artist had to think through every visual part of each scene. We created our own Loraxes using pipe cleaners, markers, paint, tissue paper and oil pastels!

5th grade Guitars - Industrial Design

5th grade artists are busy learning about the numerous career paths that art can lead us down such as: industrial design, graphic design, photography, fashion design, architecture, illustrator, entertainment designer, fine artist, museum director, art teacher..... and many more. We looked more specifically at some of the products that have been designed by industrial designers as well as the process that an industrial designer goes through to create his/her work. We designed our own guitars, considered our color schemes, and also thought about how to make the background look like you could "hear" what that guitar might sound like if it were played!
