5th grade Cartoon Sports Heads

5th graders had fun creating these Cartoon Sports Heads on a day when Mrs. T. was out of the building. They studied cartooning and facial expressions then picked their favorite sport to create the head of their cartoon! Hilarious!

5th grade Gustav Klimt Tree Landscapes

5th graders studied the art of Gustav Klimt. They learned about how his father was a gold engraver which probably started his love of gold. Klimt put gold leaf into many of his paintings and so we used some sparkle in our paintings as well!

After studying "The tree of Life" we created our own tree landscapes with jewels and glitter. They are absolutely frame worthy!

4th grade Kandinsky Abstract art

4th graders are having fun creating abstract art in the style of Wassily Kandinsky! They learned about how his art is different from realistic art and interesting facts about his life.

Each artist chose their own color scheme such as: warm, cold, primary, secondary or neutral colors. They started with free flowing lines and when they finished, we had fun "seeing" things in our abstract pictures. After adding patterns and tracing, we will be done!

2nd Grade Chalk Cityscapes

2nd Graders are studying the art profession of architecture. We looked at many cityscapes and analyzed the shapes of the buildings. We thought about (and viewed) what these cities might look like at sunset and used chalk to create their own cities.

Kindergarten Pinch Pots

This is easily the kindergarten favorite project of the year. FORM is the art element we are studying. We looked at how artists have created pinch pots throughout history in many ways. Some used their fingers to "pinch" pots and some others have used the "wheel" to create ceramic pots. We used the pinch method to create these wonderful little pots!

3rd grade Entertainment Design Monsters

3rd graders have been studying the art career of entertainment design. We looked at many familiar creative works in popular culture. One that we had fun checking out was the movie "Monsters." We created our own monster designs on toilet papers rolls - another form of "junk art!"
