Third-grade Robert Indiana

3rd graders are studying the art of Robert Indiana. They noticed how he used letters and numbers as art at a time when people did not see those things as such. We used his word love, and other words such as hope and joy in our art. We thought about the use of warm and cool colors and pattern to create these wonderful artworks! 

Learning Goals: 

I can identify the art of Robert Indiana. 

I can distinguish between warm and cool colors. I can emboss metal patterns. 

I can create block lettering like Robert Indiana.

I can create a collage. 

Kindergarten Rapunzels

Kindergarteners used a collage of materials to create these Rapunzel towers after reading the Grimm's fairy tale "Rapunzel." We had fun talking about the similarities and differences between the book and the popular movie "Tangled." Check out these fun towers!

Surreal Snowmen Collages

5th grade artists learned about the work of Salvador Dali and other surrealistic artists. They learned that surrealism is a type of art that represents many different things. It can be work that looks real, but could never really happen. It is odd, and juxtaposes very different items into one picture to create meaning. Being inspired by our wintery weather, we created our own surrealistic snowmen collages!

1st Grade Scarecrow Portrait Collages
